The town of Parkers Prairie was founded as early as 1868 and incorporated in 1903. Legend has it that Parkers Prairie got it’s name in 1867 when two men, Parker and Adley, went on an expedition through Otter Tail County and discovered a lake next to an open prairie. It is rumored that the men climbed to the top of a tall tree to spot the location. They went on to name the two Parkers Prairie and Lake Adley.
If you are ever visiting Parkers Prairie, there are a lot of fun places to check out! Stop in The Little Dipper and Diner for a burger and shake or head over to Thousand Lakes Brewing for a cold one. Outside of Parkers Prairie on Lake Irene is the LEtoile Du Nord Winery which has amazing wine selections. Their Lake Irene Lemon is highly recommended by many!
Parkers Prairie is located just twenty five minutes north of Alexandria, making it a great day trip destination if you spend your summers at a cabin near Alexandria. Be sure to check out the town and enjoy a glass of wine or pint of beer at their local winery or brewery.
