Chapin is popularly known as the Capital of Lake Murray, a small lake town located on the northern end of Lexington County, South Carolina. The northern neighbor of the State Capital, Columbia. Chapin stretches about 2 square miles, a relatively small city, packed with notable beauty.

One of Chapin’s most notable features is the Dam on the Saluda River. Construction of the Dam finished in 1930, resulting in the creation of Lake Murray. The Dam spans 99 acres and stands over 200 feet tall with a 1.5-mile walking path atop it.

The Chapin area does not typically experience heavy rainfalls or flooding as it is far enough from Lake Murray, where water levels can be controlled by the man-made dam. However, any residential or commercial structure is susceptible to a burst pipe, overflowing toilet or leaking roof!
