Hingham is part of the Greater Boston metropolitan area and lies on the South Shore of the state. It's located in Plymouth county and, as of 2020, has a population of around 24,000 people.
The weather in Hingham is similar to that of the rest of the Boston area -- cold in the winter and mild in the summer. The temperatures range from the lowest in January at 22 degrees Fahrenheit to the highest in July at 82 degrees Fahrenheit.
History of Hingham, MA
Hingham is known for its colonial history. It was settled by English colonists in 1633 and named after Hingham, Norfolk, England, a couple of years later. In the early years, the area was referred to as Bare Cove.
Originally, the land was owned by the Wampanoag sachem Wompatuck. English settlers lived in the land for around three decades before actually purchasing the property.
The town was incorporated long before the deed was handed over, making the deal a little tricky.
