The City of Manchester, founded in 1850, is located in Delaware County right off of State Highway 20 and State Highway 13. Situated in the heart of the “triangle”, Manchester is just 40 minutes from Cedar Rapids, Dubuque and Waterloo. Our picturesque Main Street and neighborhoods are surrounded by natural wonders and a thriving downtown commercial center.
Manchester is a city in Delaware Township, Delaware County, Iowa, United States. The population was 5,065 at the time of the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Delaware County. Manchester is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and State Highway 13 and is the largest community in Delaware County.
Manchester was founded in the 1850s. It was originally called Burrington after its founder, Levings Burrington, who settled there in 1852. The name was subsequently changed to Manchester.
The county courthouse was built in 1894 for $38,000. The clock in the tower was paid for with contributions from 700 county citizens. C.E. Bell designed the Romanesque Revival building, which is constructed of red pressed brick. The main body of the building measures 76 by 100 feet. The tower and spire are 135 feet (41 m) high, and the walls of the building are 18 inches (45.7 cm) thick. The decorative metal ceilings on the first floor and the elaborate woodwork are original to the building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981 as a part of the County Courthouses in Iowa Thematic Resource.
In addition to its community events, Manchester is also home to a number of historical sites and landmarks. The Franklin Street Brewery is a popular attraction that offers tours and tastings of its locally brewed beers. The Manchester Whitewater Park is a great place to go kayaking or tubing, while the Manchester Fish Hatchery is a fascinating place to learn about the local ecosystem.

We had a plumbing leak (literally water pouring from a pipe located in the upstairs shower stall into our lower level bathroom), that heavily saturated one wood paneled wall, and all of the wall-to-wall carpeting. After finally getting the water shut off, we realized quick action was necessary to save the paneling and carpet from permanent damage and costly replacement. Within the hour your SERVPRO staff came exactly at the same time as our plumbers. Plumbers located and repaired the problem, and your SERVPRO reps immediately began the clean-up of all that water, even as the plumbers were finishing up. Expertly removing the carpeting up and away from the walls, they then set up several huge driers to air and dry the bathroom from the floor to the walls, and applied the anti-mold/mildew and disinfecting agents to insure the preservation of both paneling and carpet. The carpet was completely intact, in such perfect condition, we were able to have professional carpet installers re-tack that wall-to-wall carpet back into place. No stains, no mold/mildew issues and especially no need to replace any of the carpet or paneling. Amazing! Today that bathroom is still in pristine condition - literally - "Like it never even happened."! We'll never call anyone else - you are the best in the business - SERVPRO! Many thanks to you all! In April, we had a house fire. After working with our insurance company, we had SERVPRO OF DUBUQUE take over cleaning up the mess and making the repairs. Over the winter we experienced a significant fire at one of our rental properties in Dubuque Iowa. SERVPRO of Dubuque responded quickly, delivering a large power generator while the building was without power. They were able to maintain heat in the building and power their equipment to dry and deodorize the property. Since that time, SERVPRO of Dubuque has removed all of the damage property and cleaned up much of the mess. As we move into the reconstruction phase, SERVPRO is taking care of the rebuild as well.
No one wants to experience a fire, I am glad that when I went through it, I had SERVPRO there to lend a helping hand.

When I realized that I had water damage in my basement that turned into a mold problem, I called another company first. After not being able to get them to come to my home or even return my calls, I called SERVPRO of Dubuque. They got back to me quickly and had someone here the next morning to tell me my options. I decided to have them take care of everything and they did a great job.
