Residential & Commercial Construction Frequently Asked Questions
Did you know that SERVPRO® also provides construction services? Whether it’s reconstruction after damage to your home, or general remodeling, we can meet your needs. Below are some common questions and answers about our construction services.
Can SERVPRO perform the fire/water restoration and construction services?
Yes, SERVPRO can fix your fire/water damage and reconstruct any areas extensively damaged. Having just one point of contact through the entire process is best, saving you worry and stress. The continuity of having someone who is familiar with every detail of your project from beginning to end is a huge benefit of working with SERVPRO.
How long will the construction project take?
Each construction project is unique in size and scope, so the length of time to complete varies. We’ll provide you with a timeline and communicate with you regularly on the status of your project. Your participation in making certain decisions about your work also impacts the schedule.
Will I have to be home all the time?
No, you do not need to be present while we work to repair your home. We will communicate regularly with you about the timeline and current stage of the project, so you are aware of the activities occurring on any given day.
Will I need construction services after a fire or water damage event?
SERVPRO aims to restore your home or business to its original state before any damage occurred. While construction services are not always required, the severity of the damage will determine the necessity. We will clearly communicate the extent of damage assessed and the remediation and construction plan with you before work begins.
What is pre-loss condition?
Pre-loss condition represents the state your home or business was in before any damage occurred. SERVPRO strives to return your property to its original condition, “Like it never even happened.” We’ll use similar materials and processes that were used to originally build the area damaged to ensure a seamless transition from damaged to repaired.
What is non-insured work?
Some items may not be covered by your insurance. Estimates and the scope of work covered by an insurance claim is normally established by the adjuster on your claim and represents the amount your insurance company agrees to pay. We’ll work with your insurance adjuster to ensure your claim is accurately processed. We’ll also be able to help you with changes and upgrades, but any amount outside the insurance scope of work is considered non-insured work and would be handled under a separate agreement.
Do I need a permit?
We will provide everything necessary to get the job done, including estimates and permit acquisition. We will abide by the local governing authorities in your area and follow-through with the permitting process on your behalf.
Do my belongings need to be moved away from the premises?
While some belongings may need moved out of the home, this is not always the case. In the event that your personal items need relocated while repairs are made, rest assured that SERVPRO is skilled in pack-out procedures. We’ll care for your items and return them once the space is ready for them again.
