Suamico Cleanup and Restoration

SERVPRO of Brown County is an active member of the Suamico community, helping with fire restoration, water restoration, and mold restoration.

Suamico is the same age as the state of Wisconsin as a whole, as they were both founded in 1848, with the state being founded in May and Suamico in August. Suamico is part of Howard in Brown County, but prior to that, was part of Oconto County until 1851. However, it took until 2003 for Suamico to be incorporated as a village. The name Suamico comes from the Menominee Indians, and is derived from the saying, “Mäte Sue’mako Tusi’niniu,” which translates to, “Great Sand Bay People.”

Not to be confused with Little Suamico in Oconto County, Suamico had a 2021 population of 13,078 and plays home to the Suamico River, a stretch of water spanning 3,700 feet that flows into Lake Michigan. The river has been dredged by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to help grow recreational activities like swimming and fishing, as a result of the River and Harbor Act of 1937. Fishing is a major interest in Northeast Wisconsin, and the Suamico River is home to multiple categories of fish, including Yellow Perch, Largemouth Bass, Rock Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, and Bowfin, as well as Freshwater Drum.
