Battle Ground is located at the heart of Clark County, about 15 minutes North of the metropolitan areas. With its desirable location just off the I-5, the population has reached nearly 23,000. The town was established in June of 1951 with only 742 residents. The city received its name from a battle that actually never transpired between the Chief Umtuch of the Klickitat tribe and Captain Strong and his soldiers.

Located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains lies the city's largest attraction, Battle Ground Lake State Park. A beautiful natural area to bring the family for boating, trout fishing, hiking, camping and equestrian trails. After working up an appetite, be sure to go into town for a bite or visit the vintage antique shops and boutiques.

With the city’s relatively low elevation, it receives on average, 2 inches of snow each year. However, in terms of precipitation, Battle Ground is above the national average for rainfall, hail and sleet. Rainfall peaks November through January, making Winter a less desirable time to visit. If you were to ask a local when the best time to visit Southwest Washington is, you will likely be told June through September. Warmer, sunnier months are cherished but as Summer turns to Fall, the rural areas become dry and susceptible to brush fires. The local Clark County Fire District is on high alert and it is not uncommon for the city to experience burn bans. In previous years, wildfires have displaced a small number of residents from their homes.
