Fletcher, TX is between Highways 69 and 96. It's just north of Beaumont, Texas in the Lumberton area. It's not a town itself, but more of an area that has historical significance. It lies in southeastern Hardin County. The was likely named after the Fletcher family of Beaumont when the railroad was built through the area.

History of Beaumont, Texas

In 1824, Noah and Nancy Tevis settled in what is now Beaumont. They built their home on the west bank of the Neches River—and other settlers followed them there.

The Neches River Settlement was there about 11 years before the land was purchased and the city of Beaumont was planned. On December 16, 1938, however, it officially became a town.

The Port of Beaumont became an important port, making the area important for rice-milling and lumber. In 1901, oil was discovered in nearby Spindletop—making it one of the first large American oil discoveries.
