Trenton, TN located in the heart of Gibson County was originally named Gibson-Port. Trenton is the oldest town in the county and was chosen as the county seat in 1825. Trenton celebrates its birthday on November 2, 1825. The present-day courthouse was built in 1899 and is considered one of the most handsome in the state. If you ever have the chance to go view it you will truly understand why. It is situated in the middle of the downtown square which you can drive all around. Trenton is known for its fascinating collection of teapots. Beginning in early 1981, John W. Melton, administrator of the Gibson County General Hospital developed the dead of a “teapot festival” to draw attention to the rare collection of Porcelain Veilleuses. This idea was very welcomed by the city council. Melton served as the first Festival Chairman. While the Teapot Festival is only one week of the year, usually at the end of April, you can view the amazing teapot collection year-round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the Trenton Teapot Museum which is located in City Hall next to the Trenton Fire Department.
