This very small borough is named after George Washington, Americas first President. Initially founded during the Revolutionary War and Fort Bosley stood along the eastern backs of the creek. A millionaire named Frank Delong would often visit the borough in the early 20th century. He did this to get away from the city life. After donations from Mr. Delong to a school in the area it was considered one of the best facilities in the country. A nursing home is now where the old school used to be, and a memorial still stands where the Presbyterian Church was. This memorial contains many historical artifacts. Just recently an 18th century log cabin remains were discovered and suggested permanent residents from that time.
