Silverdale had several different names until 1895. It was originally named after a man who owned the corner store in town. The town had three different names until they were able to settle on one after the post office was established. The old post office is now a historic home and is one of the oldest buildings in town. The borough park was built in 1985 and is a popular place for families to this day.
