Vinita Cleanup and Restoration

Incorporated in 1892, Vinita was established in Oklahoma’s Indian Territory.  Vinita was the first city in Oklahoma to have electricity. Located 64 miles northeast of Tulsa, the town is known as the “Crossroads to Green Country”. In 1935 the Grand River Dam Authority was established and placed it’s headquarters in Vinita, making it one of the area’s largest employers.

Phil McGraw “Dr. Phil” was born in Vinita and has had a storied career in psychology and television entertainment. In 1989 McGraw and a lawyer friend launched Courtroom Sciences, Inc. (CSI), a firm that provided mock trial, jury selection, and mediation services to lawyers. CSI attained a national reputation after successfully guiding to victory the defense lawyers of the famed Exxon Valdez oil-spill trial. The television show “Bull” was based on McGraw’s work with CSI.

Vinita is also known for its tourism, being close in proximity to Grand Lake o’ the Cherokee and I-44. In 2023 a company called American Heartland produced plans for a $2 Billion park and resort located 6 miles from town which was annexed by Vinita. In late 2023 ground was broken for the first phase including a 350 space RV and camping resort.
