Originally known as Praper, Kiefer was voted to be incorporated on November 20^th, 1908, and grew as an oil-boom town after the development of the Glenn Pool field in 1905. In its early days, a streetcar / interurban rail line that connected Tulsa to Sapulpa ran a route through the middle Kiefer’s township and still serves as an industrial rail line today.
