When a dehumidifier malfunctioned and caught fire in the basement of a Poughkeepsie, NY home, SERVPRO of Western Dutchess County was notified immediately and arrived to the scene to board up the home for security. Thankfully, no one was hurt and after the damage had been assessed, our teams got to work right away with smoke and soot removal that had gone all the way up to the 3rd floor of the home as well as remediation of the water damaged areas from the firefighter efforts.
The basement had to be completely gutted down to the studs and cleaned extensively to remove all traces of the fire. Meanwhile, the upper floors were completed and are now utterly odorless, back to how the insured had left them. There is zero smell of smoke and all fire and water damaged areas were totally restored from top to bottom to pre-fire condition.
