Jersey City’s Newport section is a mixed-use community of retail, residential, office, and entertainment facilities. The section was created beginning in 1986 according to a master plan, spearheaded by The LeFrak Organization, designed to transform the old Erie Railroad yards and Pavonia terminal into something transformative for the city. This 600-acre area is located on the Hudson River Waterfront opposite Lower Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood in New York City. The area is easily accessible from Interstate 78 and includes light rail and PATH Train service into NYC.
This section of the city includes many large buildings including the Newport Centre Mall anchored by several “Big Box” retailers. The Mall proper is surrounded by many restaurants. Close to twenty high-rise apartments in the area house roughly 10-15 thousand residents. SERVPRO has assisted many of these tenants with restoration services following floods and fires.
