Bunn is located at the intersection of NC 39 and NC 98 in southeastern Franklin County. Bunn offers small town living approximately 30 miles from Raleigh and Rocky Mount. Bunn is a small rural town of about 357 people with most of its economy founded on agriculture, primarily tobacco. There are a few light industries and several small businesses offering the latest in conveniences that create a warm and friendly town atmosphere. Green Walker Bunn, for whom the town is named, settled the area southeast of the current town limits. At the turn of the 20th century, the Montgomery Lumber Company added railway service to the Bunn area from Spring Hope. The lumber company purchased land and created a town near the railway northwest of the original settlement. Old homes are being renovated to reflect modern needs. Farmers have changed with the times and bring new products to market. Long vacant lots of land spring to life with new homes. Yet, the friendly small-town atmosphere continues as it has for over two centuries. The Town of Bunn – Where descendants of Green Walker Bunn still walk down Main Street. The town was chartered in 1913.
