Harvester, a small town located in the southwestern part St. Charles. The post office was originally established in 1886 to take the place of the Six Mile House. The Six Mile House was the original post office established in 1876. Colonel Benj. Emmons gave Harvester its name in 1881. Harvester was given its name because of the great wheat harvests in the section. Harvester was formerly known as the Six Mile House because that was a popular stopping place for the travelers which was located six miles from St. Charles.
