Goddard, MD is known for the Goddard Space Flight Center, named after the physicist Robert H. Goddard.

An unincorporated community and a former census-designated place in Prince George's County, it had a population of 5,554 in the 2000 census. The area is considered part of the city of Greenbelt, with an estimated 25,000 people in the 2020 census.

One can choose messages to send to NASA spacecraft, and see what happens when they are blocked by clouds and interference.

GLOBE Hall is another great attraction, a four-station exhibit that encourages visitors to participate in NASA Earth science. The exhibit describes how one may become involved as a citizen scientist, focuses on different Earth "spheres." 

Or explore the James Webb Space Telescope at Goddard, which helps one to understand our place in space. Launched in Dec 2021, Webb was built right here at Goddard. Learn about the first galaxies that formed in the early universe, by peering through dusty clouds to see forming planetary systems, connecting the Milky Way to our own solar system.

Experience the sun as never before, in the Goddard Center's Solarium. Featuring the same footage that NASA scientists use to study the sun, Solarium is an immersive, large-scale digital art installation that is a perfect marriage of art and technology. Solarium transports viewers over glowing loops and stunning explosions of plasma on the sun’s surface.
