Kapaa – Kauai’s Most Charming Town
Kapaa is a Hawaiian word meaning "the solid one". It is formed from ka (the) and pa'a (solid). The historic beachside community of Old Kapaa Town on Kauai’s southeast shore sits in a wistful, sweet spot between the old and new. Along the entirety of the Kappa coastline is a bike and pedestrian path called Ke Ala Hele Makalae which means “The Path That Goes by the Coast.” Long-term plans are to have this popular coastal path stretch all the way from Anahola to Nawiliwili Harbor. A must-see tourist attraction is the Lydgate Farms Kauai Chocolates. It is run by a fifth-generation Kauai family. The farm has been recognized as producing one of the best tasting chocolates in the world by the Cocoa of Excellence Awards in Paris, France three times (2017, 2021, 2023).
