Chipley, Florida, is a city and the county seat of Washington County, located in the Florida panhandle. Originally named “Orange,” this small city was formed in 1882, when the Pensacola and Atlantic Railroad came through town. Chipley got its name from the railroad president, William Dudley Chipley.
