Formally known as the Dandridge Crossings, White Pine was renamed in 1873 after a large pine tree that stood along Main Street. The town was officially incorporated in 1893, during the construction of I-81, which began in 1963. Many businesses relocated from the business district to be closer to the exits of I-81. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy boating, fishing, and taking in the fantastic vistas of the Great Smoky Mountains. 

The Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center, located in White Pines, holds over 60 events every year. Horse shows, rodeos, tractor pulls, motocross racing, fairs, and school graduations. The ETWHA Fall Classic Horse Show runs from Oct 16th to 18th. This is a great event for the whole family to enjoy every day from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. 

The Town of White Pines Farmers Market is open Saturdays at 9 am until 1 pm from April to the end of October at the corner of Main and Walnut St. There are usually flowers, vegetables, plants, seeds, and much more for sale. 

The Glenmore Mansion, built in 1868, is a nearby preserved Victorian home full of artifacts and represents a stunning example of Tennessee's Second Empire architectural style. Christmas at Glenmore is held on the first two weekends in December every year. Take a step back in time, enjoy festive greenery, trees, and wreaths. Victorian sweets and hot wassail are served in the dining room.
