The history of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin is one that started with the Native American tribes that populated the land and water. These people had settled in this area for thousands of years and left behind traces of their civilization when Europeans moved in. The first Europeans to enter the area were fur traders who traveled upstream along the Wisconsin River. Go back to 1835 when the Dells was only a single tent city on the banks of Lake Delton with a population being only a few hundred.
