It's location near the river and railroad brought it prosperity through modern times as businesses, commerce and residents grew around this location. It was originally two communities, West Adams and Friendship. The West Adams post office opened in 1882 and changed its name to Keeler in 1890. The Friendship post office opened in 1903 and changed its name to Adams in 1959. These two communities were fully incorporated as a village in 1918.
