The town was initially named Yakima City until 1918, when the town moved over 100 buildings on rollers to be close to the Northern Pacific Railroad Depot. The new city was named North Yakima, and the original town became known as Union Gap. Union Gap Old Town Days, Civil War Reenactments, and Living History Camps take place every Father's Day weekend. Scheduled for June 15-16th, the weekend includes a pancake breakfast, scavenger hunt, civil war battles, and much more.
The 40th Annual Pioneer Power Show and Swap Meet takes place on the 3rd weekend in August of each year. (Aug 17-18, 2024). This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the equipment in pioneer times, watch the parade, observe blacksmiths, and watch many other demonstrations.
Join your neighbors in celebrating AGRI-COPIA from October 12 to 13, 2024. This is a free family event offering draft horse plowing, horse-drawn wagon rides, mini rail car trains, decorated pumpkins, and many more cultural exhibits.
