About Wimberley, TX

Wimberley is a a village located in Hays County, Texas. It is mostly ranching land, and the population was just shy of 3,000 people as of the 2020 census.

Wimberley's weather is usually on the warmer side, but it is not unheard of to have a colder winter. The average winter temperatures are around 62 degrees and average summer temperatures around 95. It isn't uncommon to have days in the summer where it gets over 100 degrees.

History of Wimberley, TX

Wimberley was a trading post near Cypress Creek int eh early days. William Carvin Winters built a gristmill in 1956, and the mill was later sold to the Cude family. In 1874, the mill was sold yet again to Pleasant Wimberley and was renamed as such.

Despite the mill shutting down in 1925, the town continued to grow and became popular among tourists. While the gristmill is no longer standing, Winters' home is still standing and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
