Swiss Alp, TX is a small unincorporated community located in Fayette County, Texas, in the southeastern part of the state. The town is situated approximately 12 miles southeast of La Grange and 25 miles north of Columbus. It was named Swiss Alp by early settlers who were reminded of Switzerland by the area's rolling hills and lush green countryside. The town was established in the mid-19th century and was originally a stop on the stagecoach route between Houston and San Antonio. One of the main attractions of Swiss Alp is the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, which was built in 1911 and features stunning stained glass windows and a beautiful interior. The church remains an active place of worship and is open to visitors who wish to admire its unique architecture and design. In addition to its historic charm, Swiss Alp is surrounded by natural beauty and is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts.
