About Rose City, TX

Rose City is very close to Beaumont. In fact, it is only about three miles east and is located in Orange County, Texas. It is considered part of the Beaumont-Port Arthur Metropolitan statistical area. The most recent population was in 2010 and was around 500 people. Interstate 10 runs right through the community giving members easy access to the larger metropolitan area surrounding it.

Rose City has a mild climate, with temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Historically, however—before the recent changes in weather patterns that have made this area colder and hotter than usual—the average temperature was lower or higher by several degrees. The area usually receives about 60 inches of rain each year—more than the national average.

History of Rose City, Texas

In 1950, an oil field was discovered in the area and named Rose Hill. The town also thrived on income from the sand and gravel pits in the area. As of 1973, Rose City is officially incorporated.
