History of Nixon, TX

Nixon was originally founded by Robert T. Nixon at Gonzales-Guadalupe County. This is now abandoned and known as the ghost town of "Old Nixon."

While Old Nixon was being founded, the area of Rancho was being formed as well. Settlers came from Mississippi and quickly adopted the ranching lifestyle in the area. Rancho eventually fell victim to the railroad bypass and the decline of the population.

Present-day Nixon's development began in 1869 with the establishment of the San Antonio Baptist Association at the First Baptist Church. The church is considered a cultural founder of the community.
