Lumberton is in Hardin County, Texas and has a population of around 13,500 people as of 2020. It is part of the Beaumont-Port Arthur Metropolitan statistical area. Lumberton has a total area of 13.4 square miles, most of it land. The city of Village Creek and the Neches River are two of the town's borders.

Lumberton is known as the home of Village Creek State Park. The state park is in the Piney Woods, and was established in 1994. It's named after a creek of the same name that is a tributary of the Neches River.

The climate of Lumberton is generally mild; however, temperatures can occasionally dip just above freezing or rise above 90 degrees.

History of Lumberton, Texas

Lumberton was built in 1894 as a stop on the Gulf, Beaumont, and Kansas City Railway. In 1909, the town's post office was built and served the local saw mills and lumber camps. Later, the post office was relocated to Fletcher. Over time Fletcher became part of Lumberton.

Lumberton officially incorporated in 1973, but the city of Beaumont sued them a couple of years later, stating they were within their boundaries and could not incorporate. Lumberton lost and had to relocate and re-incorporate.

In August 2017, Hurricane Harvey struck the area and caused widespread damage. SERVPRO was there to help with cleanup efforts.
