Groves is a city in Texas in the Beaumont-Port Arthur Metropolitan statistical area. It is in Jefferson County, and has a population of around 17,000 as of 2020.

Groves is about 16 miles southeast of Beaumont, and the town of Port Arthur borders Groves on three sides and Port Neches is just to the northwest. The city has a total of about 5.2 square miles, most of which is land.

The weather in Groves is mild most of the year; however, on occasion temperatures will dip right above freezing or soar above 90 degrees.

History of Groves, Texas

Groves was first settled by Sam Courville in 1886, a transplant from a Sabine Lake home in Port Arthur. About three decades later, more land was purchased and a few thousand pecan trees were planted.

Eventually, the land was sold to developers who turned it into a neighborhood called "Pecan Grove." The name was later shortened to Groves.

In August 2017, Hurricane Harvey struck the Houston area and caused widespread damage. SERVPRO was there to help with cleanup efforts.
