Ferris Cleanup and Restoration

Ferris, Texas packs a lot into only 4.8 square miles. In 1882, with only 47 votes cast, a group of settlers voted on whether to incorporate, and the city was born with 34 votes in favor and 13 against. Due to its mineral rich soil, brick making is a thriving industry in the area which contributed to Ferris’s early growth. Following WWII, Ferris opened four brick plants in combination with the six that were already functioning in the city before the war, earning itself the nicknames, The Brick Capital of the Nation and The City that Bricked the World. At the beautiful Old Brickyard Golf Club, community members can play golf while also acknowledging the city’s rich brick history. Each year in April, Ferris holds its annual brick festival where local vendors and community members have the opportunity to celebrate this unique little town.
