The town of Tyner, Tennessee
Tyner, Tennessee is a small town encompassing Lake Barkley, and is well known as a hub for outdoor recreational activities. Nestled into the Smoky Mountains, Tyner is roughly 90 miles west of Chattanooga and 70 miles east of Knoxville. There are two well-known historical sites related to the Tyner family: the old Tyner cabin on the Appalachian Trail, and the Tyner Cemetery where many of the family members are buried.
