Sale Creek, Tennessee is a city located in Hamilton County, Tennessee. The Town of Sale Creek was officially incorporated by the State of Tennessee on June 3rd, 1882. The history of Sale Creek, TN
The name "Sale Creek" is a corruption of the Cherokee word "sali," which means "the water runs downhill." In 1780, during Colonel Briant's expedition against the Middle Towns Cherokees, he took his troops down Sali's creek to attack an Indian camp on what is now known as Tellico River. When his cannons fired from Sale Creek mountain on December 12th 1780, these were believed to have been the first cannons fired at the Cherokee by Europeans.
