The town of LaGuardo takes its name from the Spanish word "laguardia." Laguardia means "watchdog." An early spelling of the community was "Lagad" or "Lagado." The name is likely derived from the fact that the town served as a lookout point for Spanish soldiers in the area. LaGuardo is located just outside of Nashville, and the Nashville skyline can be seen in the distance.
