Hixson Emergency Services
Hixson, Tennessee is a suburban city located 15 miles northeast of downtown Chattanooga and 7 miles southeast of Red Bank. It is also considered to be a part of the unincorporated area known as Hixson-Ridgedale. It has been called a "main street community" by the developers because most development has occurred within one mile of the business district along Northgate Boulevard, just north of Highway 153. Hixson is known for its excellent schools and family-friendly feel. The climate in Hixson ranges from warm to hot and humid during the summer but very mild in winter, sometimes dropping as low as 20 degrees below zero.
History of Hixson
Around 1821, pioneers John and Elendar Hixson became the first European settlers to be in the area now called Hixson. This family ended up moving the Missouri in 1852 in hopes to avoid any involvement in the Civil War. Hixson has developed quickly with many attractions and destination spots for tourists. There are two notable golf courses in Hixson: Valleybrook Golf and Country Club and Creeks Bend Golf Club. The TVA Big Ridge Small Wild Area is just south of Hixson as well as Booker T. Washington State Park.
