The history of Hallbrook, Tennessee begins over 250 years ago. The area was originally settled when European settlers from the British Isles began crossing the Atlantic in search of new lands to settle. The town was settled in the mid 1700s by survivors of the Great Plague, who had fled Britain for their own health’s sake. Many escaped from their dying country by sailing to North America. These first settlers were drawn in large part by the promise of rich farmland and abundant game. It is apparent that pioneers who came to Hallbrook chose to live self-sufficiently off the land while enjoying its beauty.
