Alamo, TN located in Crockett County. Alamo was first founded as a trading post called Cageville by mercantile partners Issac M. Johnson and Lycurgus Cage in 1846. Johnson became the first postmaster in 1848. The name of the town was changed to Alamo after the town became the county seat for Crockett County in late 1871. The act to change the name was that the seat should bear the name that its county had been formed to commemorate Davy Crockett’s stand at the Alamo. The town became incorporated in 1911.
One of the main attractions of this town is the Tennessee Safari Park. Tennessee Safari Park is known for its 7.5-mile drive-through safari and a 20-acre walk-through zoo. The drive-through zoo offers a unique experience of close-up interactions with exotic animals. There are so many different animals here for you to socialize with from your car, ostrich, kangaroo, bison, camel, zebra, gazelle, and llama, just to name a few. This is the perfect way to get your picture with some fun different animals in real life. This is the best place to check off some bucket list items.
