Lead, South Dakota is a small historic mining town in Western South Dakota near the Wyoming State Line. The city itself was named for the “leads” (also sometimes called lodes) of the deposits of ore which were prevalent in the area. The city was founded as a company town by the Homestake Mining Company in 1876 and by 1910 it was the second largest town in South Dakota. The Homestake mine was the largest, deepest, and most productive mine in the western hemisphere before closing in January of 2002. After closing, the city and the Homestake mine itself was selected to become the site of Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory and now the Sanford Underground laboratory operates in its place conducting experiments in nuclear physics, neutrinos, and dark matter as well as biology and mine engineering studies.
Lead has a humid continental climate which makes the summers warm, and the winters are cold with very heavy snowfall. Everyone that came to our house to do the clean up, dry the carpet and walls, re-stretch the carpet and clean the carpet were great. Friendly. Introduced themselves when they came in. Offered information and advice all along the way. Not to say any one service was better than another, they were all equally great, but the initial clean up crew went to great lengths. They even removed more of the damaged sheet rock from the ceiling and wall. Trimmed it back, so the sheet rock repair was ready to go. Re-stretching and cleaning the carpet went very well, the results were great. Thank you All!

The SERVPRO crew was amazing. They came in and helped us find the cause of the leak in our house that was causing the damage. They explained in detail the steps they would take to dry and clean the damaged areas. They were professional and courteous! 5 Stars!
I recently went through the Cleghorn fire and my insurance company sent SERVPRO to come clean and sanitize my home from smoke damage. They were prompt, professional and went above and beyond anything I had imagined. Very knowledgeable in their job and have compassion for what people go through. They cleaned clothes, bedding and rugs and delivered dog beds to keep my pets safe too. I highly recommend them and thank you crew for helping get my life back together.
