The quiet life is where it’s at in Mayesville! This small community is located on the outskirts of the Sumter metropolitan area and home to around 700 people. It was first established by Matthew Peterson Mayes and started as an agricultural community.
The remains of the original downtown area still stand along Republic Street, but now this community mostly consists of single-family homes and a few area businesses like Fork’s BBQ & Sports Bar and the Mary McLeod Bethune Learning Center. Mayesville quickly turns into farmland on the outskirts of town, and the Long Branch stream flows off to the town’s west.

The toilet in my children’s bathroom started leaking. There was nothing but grey water flooding the bathroom and my hallway. Unbeknownst to me, the water leaked through the bathroom linen closet and into my den and into my hallway. The hardwood floors were damaged beyond repair. The water damage was more significant than I initially thought. My insurance adjuster recommended for me to call SERVPRO in Sumter, SC. It was after hours when I was told to call. I am so impressed with the timely manner in which they responded. Duck and Mike are the two men that came out to assess the damage. They are awesome!!!
