Close enough but just far enough away from the maddening crowd, Conway is a growing and thriving small town just north east of Myrtle Beach where many who don't want the hustle an bustle of a resort community find a slightly slower pace of life.
Conway, originally known as Kingstown was founded in 1732 on a bluff overlooking the Waccamaw River. The name was soon changed to Kingston. Kingston was originally part of the Parish of Prince George Winyah. The name of Kingston was eventually changed to Conwayborrough to honor Revolutionary War hero General Robert Conway, a general in the South Carolina State Militia. In 1883 the name was shortened to Conway.
The population of Conway was only 100 people in 1800, mainly populated by Scots-Irish immigrants. The town did not grow much until the coming of the Carolina Southern Railroad. After that event the town had a steady growth in population. In the modern era, the increasing popularity of the South Carolina Coast has lead to a simultaneous growth in the population of Conway to its current population of a little over 2,300. Because it is only about 15 miles from the coast, Conway has become a "bedroom" community for the coastal towns of North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach.
Conway is also home to Coastal Carolina University, a state funded public university founded in 1954. Coastal Carolina is a liberal arts college, with a student population of over 10,400. Athletes compete in NCAA division one athletics, and Coastal is a member of the Sunbelt Conference.
All and all, Conway is a lovely historic small town on the Waccamaw River with lots to offer those who want to enjoy Coastal South Carolina.

What our Conway
customers are saying
I am extremely pleased with their service!
very pleased with all workers. Brock did a good job.
5 out of 5 stars for mold removal excellence in Myrtle Beach.
Nothing but professional, from upper management to technicians. One of the best companies I ever had the privilege to work for.
The 3 staff members that serviced us were great. Because of Alex and his techs, I will certainly use SERVPRO again as well as tell other Managers in my organization to give SERVPRO their business. Once again, Alex was a pleasure to deal with and because of him we will add SERVPRO as a Preferred Contractor.
I was really worried about mold until I talked to the professionals at SERVPRO of Horry County.
