As a community Yeadon was successful because of it's proximity to Philadelphia, primarily the markets. The neighborhood also did well early on because of the benefits of Cobbs Creek. Yeadon resident William Kerr is known as the "Father of Flag Day." His efforts materialized into reality when President Truman signed the Act of Congress proclaiming June 14th as a national day of recognition of the flag. Today, Flag Day is celebrated in Yeadon, and is an all day event. The youth of the community are served by the Yeadon Educational Athletic Association. For more than thirty years the organization has made sure that athletic activities were available to help build character and confidence.
