The town was founded in 1769 and was officially named Traumbauersville in 1822. It was incorporated by German immigrants in 1908. It is a very small town but produced a large amount of cigars that were made in the state during the 1800s and early 1900s. This was one of the only major manufacturing sites in town at that time. The Trum Tavern was a historic site in town that stood for over 200 years until it was damaged by a fire. It would later be repaired and is still operating to this day.
