Mifflinville is another small town located in Bloomsburg. It is located in Columbia County and in the northern part of Mifflin Township. Mifflinville is a very small town only covering 1.38 square miles. With that being said 49% of the town is the Susquehanna River which is located on the south side of town. Mifflinville was names after Pennsylvania Governor Thomas Mifflin and was formed back in 1799. Unlike other towns in the area, Mifflinville didn’t have a big industrial business presents due to the lack of transportation. In 1855 a gunpowder plant was built but was destroyed less than three days later due to an explosion. Bloomsburg University is the closet university located to Mifflinville and located in the Central Columbia School District.
