Brownsville is a city in Linn County, Oregon and is located sixty miles south of Portland. Brownsville is the setting for the fictional town of Castle Rock, Oregon, in the 1986 film Stand by Me. "Stand By Me Day" happens in the summer, July 23rd and brings lots of fun all. Brownsville is a pioneer town with big attractions, from the famous "Stand By Me" movie trail and the Willamette Country Music festival to old-fashioned storefronts and parades. It home to the Linn County Museum, which tells the story of the Calapooya tribe and early settlers, and the Living Rock Museum, a building made with local agates, crystals and quartz.
