Bellefontaine, pronounced “bell fountain”, is a small town in Midwest Ohio. In 1777 the land was home to a tribe of Shawnee Indians before the American Revolutionary War reached Ohio forcing many of the natives to head north to be closer to their British allies. The land then became home to war veterans and other settlers in the 1800s. Since then, Bellefontaine has come a long way with a few claims to fame including, the highest point in Ohio at 1,549 feet, the shortest street in America at 30 feet, and the oldest concrete street in America that was first paved in 1893. Major renovations began in the downtown area in 2012, bringing in delicious restaurants, unique shops, and many other local businesses for residents to enjoy.
