Plumsted Township has a rural feel with a population of a little over 8,000 and a little over 40 square miles. We may be on the smaller side but we are very community driven. The township was named for Clement Plumstead, an English Quaker who bought a large parcel of land, but never set foot in the area. In the 1900s Oakford Lake, located in the middle of the town, thrived as a tourist and vacation attraction. Our historical society offers a collection of distinct vintage pictures most of which have never ever been publicized. They aim to preserve the relics and historical documents to educate the citizens regarding the history of the area. Brindletown was once a village home to a hotel, a mill, and large estates overlooking Brindle Lake. Brindletown was purchased by the federal government to expand Camp Dix in the 1920s. Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area is a 12,906.63-acre wildlife management area located partially in our township with freshwater ponds that provides habitat for wading birds and waterfowl.

We are known for our Christmas farms: Old Silo Farm, Evergreen Farms and Yuletide Tree Farm. Dress warm! The weather can be cold while deciding between all the different styles and sizes of trees.
