The town was founded in the 1700s by the Mennonites. Prior to that Native Americans lived on the land. Campbells bridge is a historic site located in Milford Square. It was built in 1906 and was one of the oldest examples of reinforced concrete arch bridges in the United States. It was repaired and updated in 2005. Acheys Mill operated in town from 1926-1936, it was rumored to have been built in the 1750’s. It was since converted to a private residence that still stands today. The Unami creek runs through Milford Square. Several historic homes were built along the creek and also within the property of the Mill.
