Lanoka Harbor is a small coastal town with a population of a little over 8,000 people and just one neighborhood. It has gone by multiple names in the past: Cedar Creek, Williams, Williamsburg, Aumacktown and Lanoka.
Post offices of the past used to be in private homes. In 1819 ours was in the home of William Aumack hence the town name Aumacktown. The name Lanoka was founded based on the oak trees of George Lane, a postmaster about a century later. Samuel Rogers added harbor in 1924.
An interesting spot here is Murray Grove is a Unitarian-Universalist Retreat and Conference Center on a 20-acre campus nestled in the Pine Barrens in Lanoka Harbor. This is traditionally considered the site where Universalism in America began. They are a venue for the arts, where artists in all media present and develop their art, in service to the spirit of love, hope, and courage.
Located on the Barnegat Bay with numerous lagoons, a beach, Cedar Creek, and a yacht club, Laurel Harbor Yacht Club. Cedar Creek is a perfect for non-motorized watercraft like canoes, kayaks, row boats and paddle boards. Being surrounded by these waterways has given us our fair share of storms and flooding. We had a sizable amount of water damage due to a problem with our refrigerator. We notified SERVPRO of Jackson/Lacey on a Wednesday afternoon, and the crew arrived promptly the next morning. Roland and Marvey were wonderful as were the rest of the team. All work to be done was explained clearly and thoroughly. Everyone took the utmost care when moving our furniture and packing contents of the drawers. They made a stressful situation more tolerable. All workers were totally professional, yet extremely personable and friendly. I would highly recommend them to my friends and neighbors and would welcome Roland, Marvey and any of the crew back into my home without hesitation. When the job was finished, we felt as though we were saying goodbye to friends rather than workers! Such a great group of competent and respectful men.
Having everyone involved in the restoration process in our home working tirelessly has been a pleasure. Chris was incredible, keeping us informed of each step required to complete the job and making sure all work was handled professionally and respectfully. We now have beautiful new hardwood floors and carpeting and couldn’t be more pleased with how the friendly and highly competent workers finished the job.
I want to give a big shout out to SERVPRO of Jackson/Lacey! We woke up to a flood early Sunday morning in our first floor bathroom that leaked down into our basement. I called SERVPRO° at 6:30am and was immediately greeted by Shannon. She could hear the panic in my voice, but she quickly walked me through the process of turning of the water source and assuring me everything would be "Like it never happened". Within 2 hours, a team arrived to clean up! Did I mention this was a Sunday morning?? Jerry and Warner, the crew men, kept me calm while they assessed the flood and damages. They reassured me again and again that this was a simple clean up for them! Within 2 hours they had my home looking like it never happened! Over the next 4 days, Shannon and Julie called us daily to check on the status of the dryers/blowers and to see if we had any questions or concerns. Shannon was wonderful with helping us to navigate filing the claims with our home owners insurance company throughout this process. Jerry and Warner came everyday to check on the blowers and continued to monitor for any potential moisture buildup. Overall, SERVPRO° left our home dry and free from any potential water damage and mold. Thank you SERVPRO for saving the day!!!
