It was settled in 1768 by Welsh settlers, who established the first Presbyterian churches in what would become Nantahala, North Carolina. Nantahala, North Carolina was later incorporated as a town in 1894. The people of Nantahala, North Carolina have contributed greatly to the history of the area and played an important role in shaping our nation’s heritage by helping to build its roads and railroads.
