History of Arcadia
Located along HWY 150, Arcadia, North Carolina is home to almost 11,000 people. The town has a rural feeling, and most residents own their own homes. The town was formerly known as an agricultural town with booming farms all over. Over time, the small-town farmers have given up the trade of tilling the land and now it is a mostly residential community with housing developments popping up across the fields that were mostly farmland at one time. It has very little crime and the residents have reported that overall, they feel safe in their small town.
Arcadia is home to the Hampton House, which was listed on the National Registration of Historic Places on July 10th, 1984. Built originally around 1879, the Greek Revival style home is a two-story, three-bay, I-House frame. The rear wing is one and a half stories and constructed from logs dating back to the 19th Century.
Arcadia is also home to two elementary schools: Northwest Elementary and Friedberg Elementary; restaurants including, Arcadia Family Restaurant and Pizzeria; Food Lion Grocery Store and Ace Hardware, as well as the Arcadia Community Center.
